We Stopped Being Ourselves a Long Time Ago

the problem is not that AI can generate a fake version of you. the problem is that most of us were already putting out a fake version of ourselves before AI existed.

we curate. we filter. we post the version that gets the likes, not the version that is true. we have been doing this for over a decade. and now AI just made it trivially easy to automate the performance we were already doing manually.

the internet rewards performing, not being

every platform we use is designed to reward engagement, not authenticity. the algorithm does not care if you are being real. it cares if people click. so we optimize for clicks. we become content. we stop being people.

and then we wonder why nobody trusts anything online anymore.

verified content is the wrong answer

the response from most companies has been to verify content. scan images for AI manipulation. watermark generated media. detect deepfakes.

that misses the point entirely.

you can verify that an image is real and still have no idea who posted it. you can verify that a video is not AI-generated and still not know if the person behind the account is a real human being. content verification solves a technical problem. it does not solve a human one.

verified humans is the real answer

what if instead of verifying every piece of content, you verified every person?

if you know a real human is behind an account, the content they share carries more weight. not because it is technically verified, but because a real person chose to share it. that choice is the signal. that curation is the proof.

this is what soul is. not a content scanner. not an AI detector. a place where every person is verified real and then given a canvas to share who they actually are.

the internet does not need better detection. it needs more real people.

we built soul because we believe the line between real and fake disappears the moment we stop sharing what we actually are. not what we want people to think we are.

the internet does not need another tool. it needs a soul.

Prove you're real.
